Joshua 24:14-15 NKJV ~ “Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
So many of you quote this scripture, the very last line, Joshua 24:15, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” this one line and then you live the opposite of what else it says! But in order to understand that, you need to read verse 14 and all of 15 so that you have a greater understanding of what the Word is saying to you! God has told you time and time again that you are not to have any God’s before Him, He’s a jealous God and He will not share His Glory with anyone else!
You must worship Him in spirit and in truth! To worship the Lord you must approach Him with reverence and fear. Not fear in you are scared of Him, but in awe, and submission to Him! You must be truthful and sincere when you come to Him. What is sincerity? It is the quality of being free from pretense, deceit, or hypocrisy. How many times have you prayed to God, and asked Him to remove deceit, and hypocrisy from you to create in you a clean heart and to remove anything that is not like Him from your life?
You must come to him in truth, you cannot come talking about what anyone else has done, it’s all about you, Jesus told you to remove the plank from your own eye before you try to remove something from someone’s eye. Can you just focus on removing deceit from yourself, stop pretending, you go to church smiling and broken pretending like everything is good and you need deliverance and healing yourself while you are talking about what others need! This is a dangerous place for you to be in. As a Christian you live in this world that teaches you how to love and live for yourself, this is a direct opposite of what and how the Bible teaches you to live! So, you must put aside what you see and believe in what you cannot see which is the definition of faith!
You must get rid of everything else that you worship, career, money, jobs, spouses, friends, power, entertainment, and cars, and anything else that you love to worship, you must rid yourself of everything that stands between you and what God says, because anything that you place between you and God has become an idol! Don’t be like your fathers before you! If you are not sure of what’s standing between you and God ask Him to reveal it to you and then repent and ask Him to remove it! Just a note, He won’t remove anything that you are not willing to release, you can’t be holding on to it and asking Him to remove it at the same time! Release, Let Go and Let God!
You must choose everyday to follow Christ. You need to live a life of Luke 9:23, “Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Pray to God daily for discernment and test all things in your life against the Word of God and The Holy Spirit. Today, chose Him, seek Him with all your heart, mind, and strength, being submitted to His will then you can say, “As for me and my family, we will worship the Lord.”
Let’s Pray:
Father, thank You! Thank You for making all things new. Thank You for being the God of more than enough! Father, forgive me for putting other things and people before You, I repent right now! Starting now, I thank You that You have removed everything that stands between me and You, I am totally releasing it. I want to live a holy and righteous life that You called me too! Father, You are my focus and I will move forward with the firm knowledge that You alone is my Father and I find all of my joy and strength in You! Father, You are my shepherd, my sole source of covering and protection. Everything that I need is found in You and I’m in awe of You, and I will worship You and only You! Father, I thank You for moving in my life today! I know that You love me and I love You Father and as for me and my house we will praise, worship, and serve You all the days of our lives! In the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
Blessings…
