John 14:15 ~ “If you love me, keep my commands.”
Love is more than just words. it’s an action, a commitment, and obedience! Many say that they love God, but the true proof of that love is found in how you live. Jesus made it clear, If you love Him, you will obey Him. Your devotion is not just in what you say, but in how you live and follow Him daily!
I know that you have heard this before, “The Proof is in the Pudding” It was a simple recipe, one that had been passed down for generation to generation. The ingredients were written plainly, the instructions clear. Yet, no matter how many claimed to have the recipe, the proof was always in the pudding. Some would rush through the process, skipping steps, using substitutes, or ignoring key instructions.
Others would claim they knew a better way, confident that a small change here or there wouldn’t make a difference. But when the time came to taste, the truth was undeniable. Some puddings were rich and smooth, full of flavor. Others were lumpy, bitter, or lacked the sweetness that made the dish complete. The difference wasn’t in how confidently someone claimed to have the recipe, it was in whether they followed it precisely. Life is much the same way. Many say they follow God, that they love Him, and that they live by His Word. (Does your life really resemble this kind of living and love?)
But Jesus made it clear in the Word, “You will know them by their fruits. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.” Matthew 7:16-17. It is not your words, but your actions, that reveal the truth! Just as in the cake, the pudding’s taste proves whether the recipe was followed, the way you live proves the sincerity of your faith! If you claim to follow Christ, but your life is filled with meanness, bitterness, jealousy, impatience, and selfishness, what does that say about the ingredients that you are using? The proof is in the pudding! (Stop taking shortcuts and using substitutes, they don’t work!)
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” James 1:22! True faith requires obedience. It requires love, patience, trust, and commitment to God’s instructions, even when you don’t fully understand what is happening. The process takes time, but the result a life filled with the fruit of the Spirit will be unmistakable (just like baking a cake, once all the ingredients are mixed together, the cake has to bake, in extreme heat to get a rise. Take heed, you will wait in this process, but the heat makes you better!)
So, when the time comes to taste, what will your pudding reveal? Have you truly followed the Master’s recipe? Or have you taken shortcuts, relying on your own way? Remember, the proof isn’t in what you say, it’s in what you do. “If you love me, keep my commands.” John 14:15! The greatest way to show your love for God is by obeying Him! The Bible is full of His instructions, guiding you on how to live, love, and serve. If you truly love Him, you will not just pick and choose which commandments to follow, you surrender to His Will completely!
“This is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome.” 1 John 5:3! When you obey Him, you demonstrate your trust and devotion, proving that your relationship with Him is not just a routine but a heartfelt commitment. If someone were to examine your life today, would there be proof that you really love God? Do your actions, words, and decisions reflect a heart that is surrendered to Him? True love for God is not just spoken, it is demonstrated in how you live your life. Loving God should be visible in the way you obey His Word, love others, trust Him, pursue holiness, and spend time in His Presence!
Let’s Pray:
Father, Thank You! Thank You for allowing me another day! Father, I come before You today, not just with words, but with a heart that longs to truly love You. I don’t want my love for You to be empty or superficial, I want it to be real, deep, and evident in everything I do. Father, teach me, to love You not just with my lips but with my actions. Help me to obey You even when it’s difficult, to trust You even when I don’t understand, and to love others even when it’s uncomfortable. Father, I surrender my heart, my desires, and my plans to You. Let my life be a reflection of Your love. Remove any pride, selfishness, or distractions that would hinder me from fully loving You. I thank You, Father, for loving me first, even when I was undeserving. Your love is perfect, unconditional, and everlasting. Help me to love You in return with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength and not just with my words. Father, I pray that my love for You will not just be a declaration, but a way of life. In the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
Blessings…
Love, Minister Jean
