Good Morning Sunshine! You Were Planted With Intention And What You Are Rooted In Will Shape What You Will Become!

Jeremiah 17:7–8 ~ “But blessed is the one who trusts in me alone; the Eternal will be his confidence. He is like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots beside the stream. It does not fear when the heat comes; its leaves stay green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never stops producing fruit.”

The prophet Jeremiah was speaking to a people who had slowly shifted their trust away from God and placed it in human strength, systems, and visible security. Judah was in a fragile place spiritually; they still had form, structure, and activity, but their hearts had drifted. They were no longer drawing from God as their source, even though they still carried the appearance of being His people. God, spoke through Jeremiah, the contrasts about two kinds of lives, one rooted in flesh and one rooted in Him. The one who trusts in man is described as dry, isolated, and unfruitful, like a shrub in the desert. But the one who trusts in the Lord is described as a tree intentionally planted by water; strategically positioned to draw from a continuous, life-giving source.

This Scripture is not just poetic; it is prophetic because it reveals that your sustainability is not determined by your environment, but by your source. Heat will come. Drought will come. Pressure will come. But what determines whether you wither or remain is what your roots are connected to. And now you understand; being planted is not enough. You must be planted in the right place, drawing from the right source, sustained by the right connection.

As you sit with this truth, something should begin to settle deeper within you. You realize that after uprooting, after clearing, after surrendering what could not remain, you are now standing in a sacred space of replanting. This is not a casual moment, but it is a defining one because what you allow to take root now will shape everything that grows from this point forward. You begin to understand that your life is always responding to a source. Whether you are aware of it or not, your thoughts, your responses, your endurance, and your fruit are all being fed by something beneath the surface. And the reality is, you cannot outgrow your source, you can only grow according to it.

As you reflect on your encounter, think about the trees again, and how you should be seeing them differently. You no longer just see their outward condition, but you begin to discern their connection. The full tree was not just full because of time; it was full because it was connected to something that sustained it beyond what the eye could see.

And as the wind moved, carrying that melody you heard so clearly, you realized that the sound was not just in the air, but it was in the agreement between the wind and the tree. The tree responded because it was alive, because it was rooted, because it had the ability to bend without breaking. And now you understand, the melody of the wind revealed the maturity of the tree. Can you ask yourself this question? What sound does my life make when pressure comes? What is revealed when the wind begins to move through me? Because it is in those moments that your true source is exposed.

Jeremiah 17, should come alive within you again, can you see it; you, as a tree, planted by living water, your roots stretching deeper, reaching intentionally, drawing from a source that never runs dry. This is not accidental growth. This is intentional positioning. Do you understand that God is not just planting you anywhere, but He is planting you in Himself. He is inviting you into a life where your strength does not come from what is around you, but from who is within you. John 15:4 (TPT) echoes within your spirit, “So you must remain in life-union with me… for apart from me you are powerless.” And suddenly, abiding takes on a deeper meaning. It is no longer just a spiritual concept, but it is your lifeline. It is your source of sustainability.

Look back over your life and see if you can recognize the places in your life where you felt drained, unstable, or inconsistent, they were not because you were incapable, but because you were disconnected. You were trying to produce from a place that was not feeding you. Psalm 1 is here to remind you that the one who delights in God’s Word is like a tree planted by flowing waters, bearing fruit in every season. And now you can see that fruit is not seasonal because of conditions, it is seasonal because of connection.

Now is the time for something to shift within you. You are no longer asking God just to bless what you are doing; you are asking Him to align what you are rooted in. You are no longer satisfied with standing; you want to be sustained.

You begin to surrender the subtle sources that have fed you; approval, routine, familiarity, even emotional highs and you make a conscious decision to draw from God intentionally. You choose His Word. You choose His Presence. You choose to remain connected even when it requires discipline. Colossians 2:7 (TPT) becomes your declaration, “Your spiritual roots go deeply into his life…” And you realize that this is the kind of life that cannot be shaken, because it is not dependent on what is happening around you. And now, as everything comes together; the trees, the wind, the roots, the fruit, you can feel the weight of this moment, not as pressure, but as clarity. You should  understand that what you are planted in will shape what you become.

So, you pause, and the question comes again, deeper than before, not just as reflection, but as revelation. If God came today…would my roots reveal that I am truly planted in Him? As you settle into this revelation, try to understand that being planted in the right place does not mean the absence of pressure; it actually invites it. Because once your roots are in the right source, life will begin to test the strength of that connection. The wind will still blow. The heat will still rise. The seasons will still shift. But now it is no longer about where you are planted but it is about how you respond when what you are rooted in is challenged. Because in the next place, you will begin to see that depth is proven under pressure. It is revealed in the moments when everything around you feels uncertain, yet something within you remains steady.

Let’s Pray:

Father, in the Name of Jesus, I come before You with a heart that is ready to be fully planted in You. Father, I acknowledge that I have drawn from sources that could not sustain me, and today I make a conscious decision to be rooted in You alone. Lord, I ask that You align my life with Your will. Plant me where You desire me to be, and let my roots go deep into Your truth, Your presence, and Your Word. Let my connection with You become the foundation of everything in my life. Father, I surrender every false source. I release the need for validation, approval, comfort, and control, and I choose to draw from You as my only source of strength, peace, and identity. Holy Spirit, teach me how to abide. Show me how to remain connected to You in every season, when I feel strong and when I feel weak, when I understand and when I do not. Let my connection to You be consistent and unwavering. Lord, develop my roots in the hidden places. Strengthen me where no one can see. Let my private life with You be so deep that my public life reflects stability, maturity, and fruitfulness. Father, when pressure comes, help me to remain and when the wind blows, help me to bend without breaking. When the heat rises, let me not wither, but remain green and fruitful because I am connected to You. Lord, I ask that You produce real fruit in my life. Let love, joy, peace, patience, and every fruit of Your Spirit grow within me. Let what flows from me be a true reflection of what is rooted in me. Father, I lift up every person connected to me. Plant them deeply in You as well. Strengthen their roots, align their hearts, and establish them in Your truth so that they are not easily shaken. Lord, I declare that I am not sustained by what is around me; I am sustained by what is within me. I am rooted in You, and my life is built on a foundation that cannot be moved.  Father, let my life bring You glory. Let my growth reflect Your hand. Let my fruit testify of Your Presence working within me and let my roots reveal that I am truly planted in You, grounded in You, and sustained by You. I choose to be intentional. I choose to be planted. I choose to remain. In Jesus Christ Name, Amen.

Nugget ~ It’s not enough to be planted; you must be planted in the right source, because what you are rooted in will always shape what you become.

Blessings…

Love, Dr. Jean…
