Proverbs 4:18 NLT ~ “The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.”
Have you ever watched the sun rise early in the morning? It is truly one of the most stunning and glorious moments of the beauty and majesty of God’s Glory! If this scripture doesn’t describe exactly what God is saying, I don’t know how to help you see it! This scripture plainly shows us two things, it’s an observation and a promise from God’s Word. The first gleam of dawn is the foretaste of the day’s coming brightness. As the day goes by, the light gets brighter and brighter until it brushes full day of light!
Have you ever heard the expression, “there is light at the end of the tunnel.” Well, when you are with Jesus, your light is at the beginning of your day and the closer you walk with Him the brighter it gets! As followers of the One and Only True Living God you are on the path to a righteous journey and victory! And remember as you journey through this life you will experience sometimes when the light may seem dim when you are going through a trial, but be encouraged, that trial is temporary!
Run with the light God gives you! For you are without excuse. Romans 1:18-21, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, [19] because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. [20] For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, [21] because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” You cannot rebel against God and think it’s okay, God will give you over to perpetual ignorance.
Solomon in all his wisdom tried to warn his son about the path of the wicked, he told him not to enter it or pass by it; he told him to avoid it at all costs. He told him this even after giving him instructions on righteous living. He told him that the path of the wicked leads to darkness and deception. The Word of God made sure that you are without excuse for living a righteous life, He has made His truth available to you through His Word! God is Sovereign and He will bless good men and He will punish bad men, (your choice on who you want to be)! This Proverb declares, He will provide a shining light to reveal more and more of His truth, as you obey what He has already revealed. There is an incentive to obeying all the truth that you are shown. God will either bless your obedience with more light or judge your disobedience by taking away the light you think you have, Luke 8:18, “Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.” Take heed, dear sons and daughters, take heed!
How does a perfect day begin? It begins with a glow in the east, which has left the blackness of the night, now the darkness gives way, as the glorious sun rises from the horizon and drives away all remains of the night, and as the day goes, the skies light increase and intensifies until everything is bright and clear as the noonday sun shines. Your Father, has poured out His blessing on your path today and He will shine more and more in you, as you walk humbly with Him, Micah 6:8, “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” Let me tell you this one thing, this light is not the same as the sun that shines, so don’t get them mixed up, (for God does let the sun shines on the evil and the good, Matthew 5:45), this light is for the path of the just, it is not for the unjust. God’s light is not for those who don’t believe in Him nor serve Him. For His light brings wisdom and understanding, for the just man who follows God’s perfect will, way and plan!
So many people say that they know the Word of God and yet they reject it every day for the love of self and what feels good to the flesh. This is why Solomon warned you over and over again in proverbs, he wanted you to be attentive to instructions of God and to obey it. (Proverbs 1:23, 8:32-33, 10:17, 12:1, 28:9 and 29:1). For the consequences of disobeying God are severe! This is why God taught you these lessons so that you would know who was speaking to you. John 7:16-18, Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. [17] If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. [18] He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.”
The consequences on your soul, depend on how you react to God’s Word today. If you continue to choose your own way, the LORD of heaven will blind you. But, if you humbly submit to His Word, He will bless you with light and truth on your path, just like the first gleam of dawn, shining brighter and brighter till the full light of day has rested upon you!
Let’s Pray:
Thank You Father! Father, as I walk in righteousness today, I will also walk in Your light. I know that I live in a world that is full of darkness and surrounded by the enemy’s presence, but I do know that I am to walk by faith and to keep my eyes fixed on You! Father with Your help and strength I will persevere, and I will overcome as I strive ahead to my eternal reward. Father, You are the only light in this world, You are the beginning, middle and You will be the end, the Light of this world and You will lead me to the Promised Land and oh what a Glorious Day that will be! And I know until that time comes, I must keep my eyes on You, the Author and Finisher of my heart. For as I keep my eyes on You, You will shine brighter and brighter in this world as I stay in Your Word. In the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
Blessings…
