Ephesians 6:13 (KJV) ~ “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
In his letter to the church at Ephesus, Paul the Apostle writes to believers who were living in a culture filled with spiritual opposition, pressure, and distraction. He reminds them that their battle is not just natural, it is spiritual and that God has equipped them with everything they need to stand. This verse is not just about defense; it is about endurance. It teaches that after every attack, every trial, and every test, there is an expectation: you will still be standing.
Picture an athlete training for a championship. On game day, people only see the performance, the strength, the skill, the victory. But what they do not see are the early mornings, the long practices, the conditioning, and the pressure that built endurance over time. The athlete was not made strong in the moment of the game; they were strengthened long before the game ever began. In the same way, God does not wait until life’s storms come to prepare you. He strengthens you in advance so that when pressure shows up, you already have what you need to stand.
So the first thing that you learned was that God forms you, and then He positions you, now here is the most critical, once you are placed, you must be able to stand. Formation prepares you, positioning places you, but strengthening sustains you. Because being in the right place means nothing if you do not have the strength to remain there when pressure comes.
A brick that has been properly formed and placed is not left untested. Once it becomes part of the structure, it must endure weight, weather, and time. Wind pushes against it. Rain beats on it. Pressure presses down on it. Yet if it has gone through the proper process, it does not crumble, it holds.
This is the stage where your life begins to experience testing. Not because God is against you, but because He is building something within you that must be proven. “That the trial of your faith… though it be tried with fire…” 1 Peter 1:7 (KJV). Testing is not rejection, it is refinement. It reveals what has been built in you. Strength is not developed in comfort. It is developed in resistance. When everything is easy, you do not discover what you are made of. But when pressure rises, when challenges come, and when situations stretch you beyond what feels manageable, that is when God begins to show you what He has been building inside of you.
There are moments when you may feel overwhelmed by what you are carrying. Responsibilities increase, expectations rise, and life begins to feel heavy. But that weight is not meant to crush you, it is meant to strengthen you. A structure is only as strong as its ability to carry weight. And God will never place more on you than He has already been preparing you to handle. This is why you cannot interpret pressure as failure. Pressure is often proof that you are in position. If the brick was never placed in the structure, it would not feel the weight. The fact that you feel pressure is evidence that you are carrying something significant. According to 2 Corinthians 4:8 (KJV) “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed…”. You may feel the pressure, but you will not be destroyed by it.
Your strengthening requires consistency. A structure does not stand because of one strong moment; it stands because of sustained strength over time. In the same way, your spiritual life is not built on occasional faith, but on consistent trust in God. Every time you choose to pray, trust, obey, and remain, you are reinforcing your strength. There will be moments when you want to give up, walk away, or step out of the place where God has positioned you because it feels too difficult. But this is where endurance becomes necessary. “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength…” Isaiah 40:31 (KJV). Strength is not something you produce on your own, it is something God renews in you.
Strengthening also involves what you carry internally. Just like mortar binds bricks together and strengthens the structure, the Word of God strengthens your inner man. “Thy word have I hid in mine heart…” Psalm 119:11 (KJV). The more you are rooted in His Word, the more stable you become when life tries to shake you. There are also attacks that come specifically to test your stability. The enemy will try to introduce doubt, fear, discouragement, and distraction. He will attempt to create cracks in your confidence and weaken your resolve. But God has already declared your outcome. Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper…”. The attack may come, but it will not succeed.
Strengthening is also connected to your foundation. If a structure is built on a weak foundation, no amount of external reinforcement will sustain it. But when your life is built on Christ, your strength is secure. “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:11 (KJV). Your strength does not come from yourself; it comes from the One you are built upon. Even when storms come and they will come; you have already been equipped to endure them. “The rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew… and it fell not…” Matthew 7:25. What is built on a solid foundation does not collapse under pressure.
There is also a strengthening that happens in seasons of waiting. When nothing seems to be happening outwardly, God is building strength inwardly. He is deepening your faith, expanding your capacity, and preparing you for what is ahead. Waiting is not weakness, it is preparation. At times, strengthening will feel like stretching. You will be asked to do more, believe more, trust more, and endure more than you thought you could. But God never stretches you without supporting you. He increases your capacity as He increases your calling. And here is the truth: God is not building you for a moment, He is building you for longevity. He is not just preparing you to stand today, but to stand through seasons, transitions, and tests that have not even come yet. So, when you feel pressure, do not panic. When you feel stretched, do not shrink. When you feel tested, do not quit. You are not being weakened. You are being strengthened. And what God strengthens will not easily break.
Let’s Pray:
Father, in the name of Jesus, I come before You with gratitude and humility, acknowledging that You are my strength, my refuge, and my foundation. Your Word declares that after I have done all, I will stand, and today I choose to stand on that promise. I thank You that You are not only present in my life, but actively building strength within me. Lord, in every area where I feel pressure, remind me that You are strengthening me and not abandoning me. When life feels heavy and situations seem overwhelming, help me to see through the lens of faith and recognize that You are developing endurance in me. Let me not misinterpret pressure as failure, but as preparation. Father, when I feel like I am carrying more than I can handle, remind me that You have already been preparing me for this moment. You know my capacity, You know my limits, and You are stretching me with purpose. Give me the grace to carry what You have placed in my life with strength and trust. Lord, strengthen my faith in the middle of testing. When I am tempted to doubt, remind me that the trial of my faith is producing something greater in me. Let my faith not fail under pressure, but rise stronger, deeper, and more rooted in You. Father, guard my mind from every form of fear, anxiety, doubt, and discouragement. When the enemy tries to weaken me, remind me that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. Let Your truth silence every lie that tries to take root in my thoughts. Lord, build consistency in my life. Help me to remain faithful in prayer, faithful in Your Word, and faithful in obedience, even when I do not feel strong. Let my strength be built daily, not just in moments, but through a steady walk with You. Father, root me deeply in Christ. Let my foundation be secure so that when storms come, I am not shaken. Establish me in Your Word and anchor me in Your truth so that nothing can move me out of place. Lord, renew my strength when I feel weak. When I grow tired in the process, breathe new life into me. According to Your Word, as I wait on You, I will be renewed. Lift me when I feel low and sustain me when I feel weary.
Father, help me to endure. Give me the strength to stay when I want to leave, to trust when I want to question, and to believe when I want to doubt. Do not let me quit in the middle of what You are building. Lord, teach me how to respond to pressure with faith instead of fear. When situations arise that stretch me, help me to turn to You first. Let my first response be prayer, my first reaction be trust, and my first thought be Your Word. Father, strengthen my inner man. Build me from the inside out. Where I have felt unstable, bring stability. Where I have felt weak, bring strength. Where I have felt unsure, bring confidence that is rooted in You. Lord, give me boldness to stand in the place You have positioned me. Even when it feels uncomfortable, unfamiliar, or difficult, let me not shrink back. Let courage rise within me, knowing that You are with me and You are strengthening me. Father, increase my capacity. Stretch me without breaking me. Prepare me to carry what You have called me to carry, and help me to grow into every level You are taking me to. Lord, thank You that what You are building in me is not temporary. You are establishing something that will last beyond this moment and beyond this season. I trust that You are doing a deeper work in me that will produce lasting strength. Father, I declare that I will stand. No matter what comes, no matter what I face, I will remain rooted, grounded, and established in You. I will not break under pressure, I will not give up in the process, and I will not lose faith in the middle of the test. I trust You, Lord. I trust Your process. I trust what You are building in me. In the Name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen.
Nugget ~ The pressure you feel is not meant to break you, it is proof that God is building in you the strength to stand.
Blessings…
Love, Dr. Jean…
