Good Morning Sunshine! If Today Were Your Testimony, What Would Your Life Be Saying?

Psalm 90:12 (KJV) ~ “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

James 4:17 (KJV) ~ “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

This is what happens when the days of your life become your testimony! Psalm 90 is identified as a prayer of Moses, the man of God. Throughout this psalm, Moses reflects upon the eternal nature of God and the temporary nature of human life. He acknowledges that God existed before the mountains were formed and before the earth was brought forth. While generations come and go, God remains eternal. Moses also recognizes that human life is marked by limitations, difficulties, and the passing of time. Within this reflection, he offers a powerful prayer in verse 12, asking God to teach His people to number their days so that they may apply their hearts unto wisdom.

Moses is not simply asking God to help people calculate how many days they have lived. He is asking for a heart that understands the value of life and responds to that understanding with wisdom. Numbering our days means recognizing that time is limited, that our choices matter, and that each day presents opportunities to honor God through the way we live. It is an invitation to spiritual maturity rather than a call to become fearful about the uncertainty of life.

In James 4:13–17, James addresses those who confidently make plans for tomorrow without acknowledging their dependence upon God. He reminds them that life is like a vapor, appearing for a little while and then vanishing away. He then instructs believers to submit their plans to the Lord’s will. But James does not end his teaching with surrender alone. In verse 17, he declares that knowing to do good and failing to do it is sin. This brings together two essential responsibilities: acknowledging that tomorrow belongs to God and recognizing that obedience matters today.

In 2 Corinthians 3:2–3, Paul describes the Corinthian believers as a letter known and read by others, written not with ink but through the work of the Spirit of the living God. Within its context, Paul is speaking about the evidence of his ministry and the transforming work of Christ among the believers. This imagery also reminds us that a life transformed by Christ becomes visible through conduct, relationships, and character.

Together, these scriptures challenge us to consider the testimony our lives are communicating. A testimony is not limited to what we say about God after a difficult season has ended. Our daily choices can also bear witness to what we believe about Him. The way we respond to responsibilities, treat people, practice obedience, and use the time entrusted to us reveals something about the values guiding our lives. As we conclude this second week, the question before us is not simply whether we have accomplished everything on our schedules. It is whether we are allowing God’s Word to shape the way we live. If today were examined as one chapter of our testimony, would it reveal a heart growing in wisdom, love, humility, and obedience?

Think about the last time you listened to someone share a powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness. Their words may still echo in your heart because their journey reminded you of His goodness, mercy, and sustaining grace. They spoke of difficult seasons, unexpected challenges, painful decisions, or doors that opened when everything around them seemed uncertain. Yet, what made their testimony so meaningful was not merely how the story ended, but what God revealed along the way. And as you reflect upon their journey, consider this question: What story is your life telling today? As you listened, you began to realize that their testimony was about more than deliverance from a difficult situation or the blessing that followed a season of waiting. It was about the faith they demonstrated when answers were unclear, the obedience required when the journey became uncomfortable, and the spiritual growth that took place before their circumstances ever changed.

And Sunshine, here is something worth considering: While you are listening to someone else’s testimony, your own life is telling a story. Every decision, every act of obedience, every moment of surrender, and every response to life’s challenges is becoming part of that story. Whether you realize it or not, the way you live today is shaping the testimony you will share tomorrow. Your response in difficult seasons, your willingness to obey when no one is watching, and your faithfulness in the ordinary moments all speak to the work God is doing within you.

The question is not simply what God will eventually bring you through, but what your life is revealing about your relationship with Him right now. Because your testimony is not only about what God did yesterday or what you are believing Him to do tomorrow. It is also about how you are living, trusting, and obeying Him today. But have you ever considered that your testimony is not limited to the experiences you have already survived? It is also being shaped by the decisions you are making right now. Every day, you are responding to opportunities, responsibilities, relationships, and circumstances that influence the story of your life. Some moments are significant and memorable, while others seem ordinary and easily overlooked. Yet even in the ordinary moments, your attitudes and actions can reveal the condition of your heart and the values directing your decisions.

During this second week of our devotional journey, we have examined the unfinished business of today. We began by considering the things we keep putting off, recognizing that unnecessary delay can become a matter of obedience when we know what is right and have the ability to respond. We then examined the conversations we have not yet had, acknowledging that some unfinished responsibilities involve the words we have postponed speaking and the relationships that require honest attention. Next, we considered the cost of an unused moment and learned that time should be stewarded with wisdom rather than simply filled with activity. Yesterday, we examined what is still in our hands and were reminded to recognize the abilities, resources, and opportunities already entrusted to us.

Now, as we bring these teachings together, we must consider what our daily choices are communicating about the lives we are living. You may have plans for the person you hope to become, goals you want to accomplish, and a testimony you desire to share someday. But what if the most important question is not what you hope your life will say in the future, but what your life is already saying today?

There is a difference between the values you profess and the values your daily choices demonstrate. You may speak about the importance of faith, love, forgiveness, integrity, and obedience, but those convictions become visible through the way you respond to ordinary situations. It is one thing to say that you trust God, but another to demonstrate that trust when circumstances remain uncertain. It is one thing to speak about love, but another to show patience and compassion when someone requires your attention. It is one thing to acknowledge the importance of obedience, but another to respond when doing what is right becomes uncomfortable.

Matthew 5:14–16 records Jesus teaching His disciples that they are the light of the world. He encourages them to let their light shine before others so that their good works may be seen and their heavenly Father glorified. Within the Sermon on the Mount, this teaching emphasizes the visible influence of a life shaped by God’s kingdom. Jesus is not encouraging His followers to seek attention or perform good works for personal recognition. He is teaching that genuine discipleship should become evident through conduct that honors God. Your testimony is not strengthened merely by how often you speak about your faith. It is also shaped by how consistently you seek to live according to the Word you profess to believe. This does not mean you will never make mistakes or experience moments of weakness. Spiritual growth involves repentance, correction, humility, and continued dependence upon God’s grace. But it does mean that your actions deserve honest examination because they can either support or contradict the message you are communicating.

Perhaps you have been asking God to use your life as a testimony while overlooking the opportunities to demonstrate His character in your daily relationships. You may be waiting for a significant platform or an extraordinary experience, yet the people closest to you are already witnessing how you respond to disappointment, responsibility, correction, and the needs of others. The testimony of your life is not reserved for a future moment when everything finally comes together. It is being shaped through the way you live in the present.

Ephesians 5:15–17 reminds believers to walk carefully, redeem the time, and understand the will of the Lord. These instructions encourage us to examine whether our daily decisions reflect wisdom and spiritual attentiveness. Sometimes you may discover that the way you spend your time does not fully reflect the priorities you claim to value. You may say that your relationship with God is important, yet consistently allow other activities to consume the time you intended to spend in prayer and His Word. You may express how much your family means to you while repeatedly postponing opportunities for meaningful connection. You may speak about an assignment you believe God has placed upon your heart while continually delaying the responsible steps necessary to begin.

This examination should not become an exercise in guilt or unrealistic expectations. Every season carries different responsibilities, and there are times when work, caregiving, health, or unexpected circumstances require significant attention. Faithful stewardship does not mean that every priority receives equal time every day. It means that you remain willing to examine your choices, make appropriate adjustments, and seek God’s wisdom concerning what deserves your attention.

Sometimes the most revealing question is not whether you have enough time, but whether you are being intentional with the time available to you. You may not be able to change every circumstance, but you can consider whether your habits, commitments, and decisions are supporting the values you desire your life to reflect. If your testimony is being shaped through your daily choices, then your priorities deserve more than occasional consideration. They deserve prayerful attention and a willingness to make changes when necessary.

What Unfinished Business do you have today, that will become your regret tomorrow? James 4:17 reminds us that knowing what is right carries responsibility. Throughout this week, we have considered the things we postpone, the conversations we avoid, and the opportunities we overlook. Now we must acknowledge that repeated delay can eventually become part of the story we wish we had handled differently. Perhaps there is a relationship that needs attention, a commitment that remains unfulfilled, or a responsibility that has been neglected because it requires courage or discipline. You may have convinced yourself that another day will provide a better opportunity, yet the matter continues to remain unfinished.

There are legitimate reasons some responsibilities must wait. Certain conversations require preparation, some obligations depend upon resources that are not yet available, and some situations demand patience rather than immediate action. Wisdom helps you recognize these distinctions. But when you continually postpone what you know is right and have the ability to address, you must consider whether the delay is serving a necessary purpose or simply protecting you from discomfort.

You cannot return to yesterday and recover every missed opportunity, but you can allow the lessons of your past to influence the decisions you make today. If there is something you need to acknowledge, begin by asking God for wisdom concerning the appropriate response. If there is a responsibility you have neglected, consider the first realistic step toward fulfilling it. If there is someone you need to encourage or appreciate, recognize that a sincere expression of love may be more meaningful than you realize.

The purpose of this examination is not to make you fearful about what might happen tomorrow. It is to help you stop overlooking what is within your responsibility today. A faithful testimony is not the story of someone who never made mistakes. It can also be the story of someone who learned to respond to God’s correction, accept responsibility, and grow through obedience. Colossians 3:17 declares, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” Paul is reminding believers that their relationship with Christ should influence both their words and actions. Faithfulness is not limited to moments of public worship, ministry, or spiritual celebration. It should also shape the ordinary responsibilities and relationships of everyday life.

Sometimes you may be waiting for an extraordinary experience to become part of your testimony, while overlooking the significance of ordinary faithfulness. You may not recognize the value of showing patience during a difficult conversation, honoring a commitment when no one is watching, offering encouragement to someone who is discouraged, or choosing integrity when another response would be easier. These moments may not seem remarkable, but they can reveal the transforming influence of God’s Word upon your character.

Your testimony may be strengthened through the way you care for your family, respond to your coworkers, manage your responsibilities, or demonstrate compassion toward someone in need. It may also be shaped through moments when you acknowledge that you were wrong, seek forgiveness, or make a necessary change. These experiences remind us that spiritual maturity is not measured only by what we know about God but also by how we allow that knowledge to influence the way we live.

And sometimes, one of the most meaningful parts of your testimony will be the quiet faithfulness that never receives public recognition. God sees the responsibilities you fulfill, the sacrifices you make, the compassion you demonstrate, and the efforts you offer in obedience to His Word. You do not have to turn every moment into something extraordinary to live a life that honors Him. You simply need to remain willing to recognize His Presence and respond faithfully within the circumstances He has entrusted to you.

Stop waiting for tomorrow to become who God is calling you to be today! As we conclude this second week, return with me to the prayer that has guided our entire journey: “Father, teach me how to live within the confines of my day, that I may flow in Your Presence in my present, and not in tomorrow nor my past, in the Name of Jesus Christ.” During our first week, this prayer challenged us to surrender tomorrow and release yesterday. During our second week, it has challenged us to examine what we are doing with the present. We have learned that surrender and stewardship belong together. It is not enough to acknowledge that tomorrow is in God’s hands while continually neglecting the responsibilities He has placed within ours.

But we must also remember that spiritual maturity is not measured by how much we accomplish. You can be faithful in a season of waiting, healing, caregiving, or rest. You can honor God while facing limitations that prevent you from doing everything you desire. The question is whether you are seeking His wisdom and responding responsibly within the circumstances and abilities available to you. Lamentations 3:22–23 reminds us that God’s compassions do not fail and that His mercies are new every morning. This truth is especially important as we examine our lives because you may recognize areas where you have fallen short. Perhaps you have wasted time, neglected responsibilities, or allowed fear to delay something important. God’s mercy invites you to respond with repentance and renewed faithfulness rather than remaining trapped in condemnation.

You do not have to wait until tomorrow to begin making a different choice. You can seek forgiveness today, establish a healthier priority today, offer encouragement today, or take a responsible step toward something you have been postponing. Your entire life will not be transformed through one decision, but one faithful decision can become part of a growing pattern of obedience. As you reflect upon this week, consider what you would want your life to communicate if today became part of the testimony someone remembered about you. Would they see a person learning to trust God, respond with humility, demonstrate love, and honor responsibilities? Would they recognize someone who is willing to grow, acknowledge mistakes, and remain faithful through uncertainty?

You cannot determine every circumstance that will become part of your story, but you can seek God’s wisdom concerning how you respond to the circumstances before you. And as this week comes to a close, remember that your testimony is not simply about what God brought you through yesterday or what you hope He will accomplish tomorrow. It is also about how you are allowing His Word to shape your life today.

As you reflect upon today’s devotional and the conclusion of our second week, consider what your daily choices have been communicating about your faith, priorities, and relationship with God. Are there responsibilities you have continually postponed, conversations you have avoided, or opportunities to demonstrate love that you have overlooked? Have you become so occupied with what you hope to accomplish tomorrow that you have neglected what deserves your attention today? Ask God to examine your heart and reveal where your actions may need to become more closely aligned with the values you profess. Remember that the purpose of this reflection is not to condemn yourself for what remains unfinished but to become more intentional about the life you are presently living. If today were one chapter of your testimony, what would it reveal about your willingness to trust, obey, love, and grow?

Let’s Pray:

Father, in the mighty and matchless Name of Jesus Christ, I come before You with a grateful heart, thanking You for another day of life and another opportunity to experience Your mercy. Thank You for the breath within my body, the responsibilities before me, and the grace that continues to sustain me. I acknowledge that every day I experience is a gift and that the way I live should reflect my gratitude for Your goodness and faithfulness. Father, as I conclude this second week of my devotional journey, I thank You for everything You have been teaching me concerning the unfinished business of today. Thank You for reminding me to examine the responsibilities I have postponed, the conversations I have avoided, the moments I have overlooked, and the abilities and opportunities You have already placed within my reach. I recognize that my life is not measured simply by the plans I make or the intentions I express, but also by my willingness to respond faithfully to what I know is right. Lord, search my heart and reveal the places where my actions have not reflected the values I profess. Forgive me for the times I have spoken about love without demonstrating compassion, acknowledged the importance of obedience while continually postponing what is right, or expressed gratitude for my blessings while overlooking the responsibilities connected to them. Help me become someone whose words and actions reflect the transforming power of Your Word. Father, teach me to number my days and apply my heart unto wisdom. I do not want to become fearful about the uncertainty of life, but I do want to become more intentional about the opportunities You have entrusted to me. Help me recognize the value of ordinary moments and the importance of responding faithfully within my present circumstances. Give me discernment to know what requires my attention, patience concerning what must wait, and humility to acknowledge what remains beyond my control. Lord, teach me how to live within the confines of my day, that I may flow in Your Presence in my present, and not in tomorrow nor my past, in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Help me release yesterday’s regrets without losing the lessons You have allowed me to learn. Teach me to surrender tomorrow’s uncertainties without neglecting today’s responsibilities. May my heart remain attentive to Your guidance and my mind remain anchored in the truth of Your Word. Father, where I have left important matters unfinished, give me wisdom concerning the next appropriate step. Where my relationships require attention, help me respond with truth, humility, and love. Where my commitments remain unfulfilled, give me discipline and integrity. Where opportunities to demonstrate kindness are before me, help me recognize them and respond within my ability. And where I have become overwhelmed by responsibilities beyond my capacity, remind me that faithful stewardship includes wisdom, healthy boundaries, and necessary rest. Lord, I ask that my life become a testimony of Your faithfulness, not because I have lived without mistakes or experienced every outcome I desired, but because I have continued learning to trust You. May my family, friends, coworkers, and those who encounter me recognize the evidence of Your love through my conduct. Help me become someone who speaks with grace, serves with humility, works with integrity, and responds to correction with a teachable heart. Father, where my priorities have become misplaced, redirect my attention. Where distractions have consumed valuable opportunities, help me develop greater discipline. Where fear has prevented me from responding to Your Word, strengthen my courage. Where disappointment has caused me to withdraw from meaningful responsibilities, renew my hope and help me begin again. Lord, thank You that Your mercies are new every morning. I acknowledge that there are things I wish I had handled differently, but I refuse to allow regret to become the place where I remain. Teach me to receive Your forgiveness, accept responsibility where necessary, and continue growing in wisdom and obedience. Help me understand that spiritual maturity is a continuing journey of surrender, repentance, faithfulness, and dependence upon Your Grace. Father, as I prepare to enter the third and final week of this devotional journey, begin turning my attention toward the precious breath You have placed within me. Teach me not only to recognize the value of my days and the responsibilities within them, but also to become more attentive to Your Presence in the moments I often overlook. Help me recognize that my life is sustained by You and that every breath is another opportunity to acknowledge Your goodness. Lord, thank You for the lessons of surrender from my first week and the lessons of stewardship from my second week. Now prepare my heart to grow in spiritual attentiveness, gratitude, and a deeper awareness of my dependence upon You. May I never become so consumed with accomplishing things for You that I neglect the importance of abiding in You. Father, as I reflect upon the story my life is telling, help me recognize that my testimony is not only found in the victories I celebrate or the difficult seasons You have brought me through. My testimony is also being written through the decisions I make today, the love I demonstrate, the responsibilities I fulfill, and the obedience I offer when no one else is watching. Let my daily conduct speak of Your goodness even before my lips begin to tell the story. Lord, I do not want to spend my life waiting for a testimony while overlooking the testimony You are developing through my present circumstances. Teach me to recognize Your hand in the ordinary moments, Your grace in the difficult moments, and Your faithfulness in the moments when I do not understand what You are doing. May I remain faithful while the story is still unfolding. I surrender my past, my present, and my future into Your hands. May the testimony of my life continue to reflect Your mercy, Your wisdom, and Your transforming grace as I seek to honor You with every day You allow me to live. Father, let my life tell a story of surrender, obedience, gratitude, and faithfulness. May the way I live today become a testimony of the God I say I trust. In the Mighty and Matchless Name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen and Amen!

Nugget ~ Your testimony is not only the story of what God brought you through yesterday or what you are believing Him for tomorrow. It is also being shaped by the choices you make today. The way you love, serve, forgive, respond to responsibilities, and remain faithful through uncertainty reveals what you are allowing God’s Word to produce within your life. You may not be able to change every part of your story, but you can seek His wisdom concerning the chapter you are living right now. Let today become another opportunity to demonstrate the faithfulness of the God who continues to sustain you.

Blessings…

Love, Dr. Jean…
