Good Morning Sunshine! As Long As God Gives You Breath, Will You Give Him Your Yes? For In Doing So, You Are Learning How To Live In His Will, Ways, Word, And Presence!

Psalm 150 is the final chapter in the book of Psalms, a collection filled with prayers, worship, thanksgiving, confession, sorrow, and testimonies of God’s faithfulness. Throughout these writings, we encounter people experiencing fear, disappointment, uncertainty, repentance, and victory. Yet the book concludes with an invitation to praise the Lord, not simply because of what He has done, but because of who He is. The psalmist calls for praise in God’s sanctuary and throughout His creation, acknowledging His mighty acts and excellent greatness. Various instruments are mentioned to demonstrate the fullness of worship, but the final verse extends the invitation beyond instruments, locations, and circumstances: “Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD.” The emphasis is clear: as long as God continues giving breath, there is reason to acknowledge and praise Him.

In Acts 17:24–28, Paul reminds the people of Athens that God is the Creator of heaven and earth, the One who gives life, breath, and all things. His declaration that “in him we live, and move, and have our being” reveals humanity’s complete dependence upon God. Every breath, opportunity, responsibility, and moment of life exists because of His sustaining power. Together, these passages remind you that life is a gift, praise is an appropriate response, and every day presents another opportunity to seek and honor the Lord.

As we conclude our fifteen-day devotional journey, The Gift of Today — His Will, My Stewardship, His Breath, we return to the prayer that began this journey: “Father, teach me how to live within the confines of my day, that I may flow in Your Presence in my present, and not in tomorrow nor my past, in the Name of Jesus Christ.”

For fifteen days, you have been challenged to examine how you are living the life God has entrusted to you. You have considered the uncertainty of tomorrow, the responsibilities of today, and the sustaining Presence of God in moments you might otherwise overlook. Now, as this journey reaches its conclusion, the question is not simply what you have learned, but what you will do with what God has revealed to you. Think about where you were when this journey began. Perhaps your calendar was filled with plans, your mind occupied with unfinished responsibilities, or your heart burdened by circumstances you could not control. You may have been waiting for God to change something, answer a prayer, open a door, or bring clarity to an uncertain situation. Yet throughout this journey, His Word has reminded you that life cannot be lived faithfully while remaining consumed by yesterday’s disappointments or tomorrow’s possibilities. God has given you today, and today requires your attention.

The first part of this journey, If It Is the Lord’s Will ~ Living in His Presence, Within Our Present, was grounded in James 4:13–17. You were reminded that tomorrow is not guaranteed and that your plans must remain subject to God’s will. James 4:14 asks, “For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” This scripture confronts the assumption that you possess unlimited time or control over what comes next. It challenges you to plan responsibly while remaining humble enough to acknowledge that God alone knows what tomorrow holds.

Surrender does not mean abandoning your responsibilities or refusing to make plans. It means recognizing the limitations of your understanding and placing your confidence in the Lord rather than in your ability to determine every outcome. Proverbs 3:5–6 calls you to trust in Him with all your heart and acknowledge Him in all your ways. As you move forward, consider whether you are still carrying yesterday’s regrets or allowing tomorrow’s uncertainties to steal today’s peace. You cannot rewrite the past or enter the future before its appointed time, but you can trust God and respond faithfully in the present.

The second part, The Unfinished Business of Today ~ What Are You Leaving Undone While Waiting for Tomorrow? challenged you through Ephesians 5:15–16 to walk wisely and redeem the time. The focus shifted from what you cannot control to what God has already entrusted to you. Responsibilities you have postponed, conversations you have avoided, opportunities to demonstrate love, and commitments requiring attention became matters for personal examination.

James 4:17 declares, “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” This scripture reminds you that knowing what is right carries the responsibility to respond. There may be something you have continued placing on tomorrow’s agenda that requires your attention today. Perhaps it is an apology, an act of kindness, a commitment, a necessary decision, or an opportunity to serve someone. Faith should not become an excuse for unnecessary delay when God’s Word has already made your responsibility clear. However, faithful stewardship is not the same as endless activity. You cannot fulfill every expectation, meet every need, or accomplish everything at once. God has not called you to carry responsibilities that do not belong to you. He calls you to exercise wisdom, recognize your limitations, and faithfully manage what has been placed within your hands. Your worth is not measured by productivity, but your choices should reflect a willingness to honor Him with the time and opportunities you have received.

The third part, The Space Between the Breaths ~ Recognizing God in the Moments We Overlook, invited you to become more attentive to God’s sustaining Presence. Genesis 2:7 reminds you that God breathed into man the breath of life, while Job 33:4 declares, “The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.” Before you can fulfill an assignment, make a decision, embrace someone you love, or accomplish another goal, you must first receive the life that makes those things possible. Now consider how often the ordinary blessings of life become so familiar that you overlook them. The breath you did not have to request, the strength to rise another morning, the people who remain in your life, and the provisions that sustain you are reminders of God’s goodness. Lamentations 3:22–23 declares that His mercies are new every morning, while Psalm 46:10 calls you to be still and know that He is God. Even in seasons when circumstances remain uncertain, His sustaining care deserves acknowledgment.

This journey has reminded you that God’s Presence is not limited to extraordinary encounters. He remains sovereign while you work, rest, wait, pray, and attend to ordinary responsibilities. His faithfulness is not diminished because His provision has become familiar, and His goodness does not depend upon whether your circumstances have changed. Learning to recognize Him in the moments you once overlooked can transform your perspective and deepen your gratitude. Now these three lessons come together in one personal invitation: surrender what you cannot control, steward what has been entrusted to you, and recognize the God who sustains every breath. James reminds you that tomorrow is not guaranteed. Ephesians challenges you to walk wisely today. Acts reminds you that your life depends upon God, and Psalm 150 calls you to respond with praise.

But there is another question that must be considered as this devotional journey comes to a close: Have you been giving God your praise while postponing your obedience? It is possible to lift your hands in worship, speak words of thanksgiving, and acknowledge God’s goodness while resisting an instruction His Word has already made clear. Romans 12:1 calls believers to present their bodies as living sacrifices, reminding you that worship extends beyond what happens during a church service. Your daily conduct, decisions, relationships, and willingness to obey Christ are also expressions of devotion.

Perhaps the Lord has brought something to your attention during these fifteen days that you have not yet addressed. A habit may need correction, a relationship may require attention, an unnecessary burden may need to be released, or a responsibility may be waiting for your response. Whatever His Word has revealed, do not allow conviction to become another moment of reflection without action. James 1:22 instructs you to be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. Spiritual growth requires more than recognizing truth; it involves allowing that truth to influence the way you live. The invitation is not to become perfect overnight or to measure your spiritual maturity by how much you accomplish. Philippians 1:6 reminds believers of God’s continuing work in their lives. Growth is a process that requires faith, repentance, obedience, prayer, and dependence upon the Holy Spirit. These fifteen days were never intended to complete that process, but to encourage you to continue walking faithfully with the Lord.

There is also a more important decision that should never be postponed: your response to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Second Corinthians 6:2 declares, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” Tomorrow is not promised, and the invitation to receive God’s grace should not be treated as something that can always wait for another season.

John 3:16 reminds you that God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Ephesians 2:8–9 teaches that salvation is by grace through faith, not something earned through good works. The purpose of surrendering your plans, stewarding your time, and living with gratitude is not to earn God’s acceptance. These are responses to His grace and expressions of a life being transformed through faith in Jesus Christ. I want you to think about the condition of your relationship with Him. Knowing Scripture, attending church, and being familiar with spiritual language are not substitutes for personally placing your faith in Jesus Christ. If you have never surrendered your life to Him, today is an opportunity to respond. If distractions, disappointment, or disobedience have drawn your attention away from wholehearted devotion, today is an opportunity to repent and return to Him.

As this series ends, your responsibilities may remain, unanswered questions may still exist, and tomorrow may bring circumstances you cannot anticipate. Yet you can approach each day with a renewed understanding that your life belongs to God. Continue making plans while acknowledging His will, fulfilling responsibilities with wisdom, and recognizing His goodness in ordinary moments. Let the Word you have received shape your priorities, your decisions, and your relationship with Jesus Christ. Psalm 90:12 records the prayer, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” The purpose of recognizing life’s brevity is not to live in fear, but to live with greater wisdom and intentionality. Every day is another opportunity to seek the Lord, demonstrate love, respond in obedience, and acknowledge His faithfulness.

As you reflect upon these fifteen days, consider what has changed in your understanding and what still needs to change in your daily life. Will you continue surrendering your plans to God’s will? Will you become more intentional about what He has entrusted to you? Will you remain attentive to His Presence even when life feels ordinary? And will your relationship with Jesus Christ remain the foundation of your decisions? The devotional journey may be ending, but your responsibility to live according to God’s Word continues. The prayer that began these fifteen days can become a daily commitment to live within the confines of your day, remain attentive to His Presence, and trust Him with what lies beyond your control.

I want you to always remember this, as long as God gives you breath, let your life give Him praise. Let your surrender be reflected in your trust, your stewardship in your faithfulness, and your worship in your obedience. The question is not simply whether you have breath remaining, but whether you are willing to give God your yes with the life He has entrusted to you.

Let’s Pray:

Father, in the mighty and matchless Name of Jesus Christ, I come before You with a heart filled with gratitude as I reach the final day of this fifteen-day devotional journey. Thank You for the breath within my body, the mercy that has sustained me, and the opportunity to spend these days reflecting upon Your Word. I acknowledge that You are the Creator and Sustainer of my life and that everything I am ultimately depends upon Your goodness and grace. Before I ask You for anything else, I want to thank You for allowing me to experience another day and another opportunity to draw closer to You. Father, thank You for the lessons You have taught me throughout this journey, reminding me that tomorrow is not guaranteed, my plans must remain subject to Your will, and the gift of today requires my faithful stewardship. Forgive me for the times I have attempted to control outcomes beyond my authority, allowed anxiety about the future to consume my peace, or become so distracted by what I cannot change that I have neglected the responsibilities, relationships, and opportunities already entrusted to me. Forgive me for the moments when fear, procrastination, or uncertainty has prevented me from responding in obedience, and for becoming so focused on what I want You to do next that I have overlooked the goodness, mercy, and provision You have already demonstrated in my life. Teach me to surrender my plans with humility, release yesterday’s regrets, trust Your wisdom when circumstances remain uncertain, and recognize that my confidence must remain anchored in You rather than in my own understanding. Give me the wisdom to recognize what requires my attention, the courage to act when obedience is necessary, and the discernment to know when I must wait patiently and trust You. Help me become a faithful steward of my time, relationships, resources, and opportunities without allowing unnecessary pressure or unrealistic expectations to consume my life. Father, thank You for the breath I did not have to ask for, the quiet moments that remind me of Your sovereignty, the ordinary provisions that reveal Your sustaining care, and the mercy that continues meeting me in the in-between seasons of life. Open my eyes to recognize Your Presence in moments I might otherwise overlook, and teach me to appreciate the life You have given me while remaining faithful to the assignments You have placed before me. Above all, Lord, let these lessons become more than something I have read, prayed, or reflected upon. Let them transform the way I think, the decisions I make, the responsibilities I fulfill, and the way I live before You each day. May my surrender be genuine, my stewardship be intentional, my gratitude be sincere, and my dependence upon You grow deeper with every breath I take. Lord, teach me how to live within the confines of my day, that I may flow in Your Presence in my present, and not in tomorrow nor my past, in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ. May this prayer continue shaping my life long after this devotional series has ended. Help me release yesterday’s regrets without losing the lessons I have learned, prepare responsibly for tomorrow without becoming overwhelmed by uncertainty, and remain faithful within the responsibilities and opportunities available today. Father, I ask that You search my heart and reveal anything that has become an obstacle to my relationship with You. Where pride has caused me to resist correction, give me humility. Where fear has caused me to delay obedience, strengthen my courage. Where disappointment has weakened my hope, remind me of Your faithfulness. Where distraction has caused me to neglect prayer and Scripture, renew my desire to seek You. And where I have become spiritually complacent, awaken within me a deeper hunger for righteousness and a greater willingness to follow Jesus Christ. Lord, I do not want to complete this devotional journey and return unchanged to the habits and attitudes You have challenged through Your Word. Help me become a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. May my surrender become evident in my trust and my stewardship become visible in my faithfulness, and my spiritual attentiveness become part of the way I approach every day. Teach me to demonstrate love through my actions, practice integrity when no one is watching, and remain teachable as I continue growing in spiritual maturity. Father, You know every burden I have carried throughout this journey. You know the grief I may still be processing, the answers I am waiting to receive, the fears I have struggled to overcome, and the uncertainties that have challenged my peace. You see the responsibilities that have left me physically and emotionally exhausted, the prayers I have whispered when words were difficult to find, and the moments when I have struggled to understand what You are doing in my life. Lord, meet me with Your compassion and sustaining grace. Provide wisdom, appropriate support, renewed strength, and the assurance that I do not have to carry every burden alone. Help me recognize that Your faithfulness remains worthy of my trust even when my circumstances have not changed. Remind me that I can be weary and still trust You, uncertain and still seek Your wisdom, and disappointed without allowing disappointment to become the foundation of my faith. Father, as I examine my relationship with Jesus Christ, help me respond sincerely to the truth of the gospel. If I have become comfortable knowing about You without fully surrendering my heart to You, reveal those areas where genuine faith and obedience are needed. Remind me that salvation is not earned through religious activity, good works, or personal perfection, but received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Keep before me the seriousness of sin, the greatness of Your love, and the hope made available through the death and resurrection of Your Son. Lord, where I have drifted from wholehearted devotion to You, bring renewed conviction, repentance, and restoration. Help me recognize that I do not have to remain trapped in yesterday’s failures. Through the grace of Jesus Christ, I can turn from sin and seek renewed fellowship with You. Give me the courage to respond sincerely to Your Word rather than continually postponing the decisions I know I need to make. Father, forgive me for the times I have offered You the words of my praise while withholding the obedience of my heart. Forgive me for lifting my hands in worship while continuing to hold tightly to things You have called me to surrender. Forgive me for asking You to direct my steps while resisting the correction and wisdom already revealed through Your Word. Lord, I do not want my worship to become something I express only with my mouth. Let my life reflect the devotion I declare. May my decisions demonstrate my trust in You, my actions reveal my love for You, and my priorities reflect my willingness to follow Your will. Father, may my life become a living testimony of Your mercy and transforming grace. Let my words reflect Your truth, my actions demonstrate Your love, and my priorities reveal my devotion to You. May I not become so consumed with pursuing accomplishments that I neglect my relationship with Christ. Teach me to remember that my ultimate purpose is not simply to achieve more, possess more, or become more recognized, but to know You, glorify You, and live according to Your will. Lord, as I prepare to close this final day, I surrender my past, my present, and my future into Your hands. I acknowledge that my life belongs to You and that every breath is another opportunity to honor Your Name. May my praise extend beyond the words of my mouth and become evident through a life shaped by faith, obedience, gratitude, and love. Father, I thank You for every moment of conviction that has challenged me to change, every scripture that has reminded me of Your truth, every prayer that has drawn me closer to You, and every opportunity to examine the condition of my heart. Do not allow the lessons of these fifteen days to become temporary inspiration that fades when my daily routine resumes. Let Your Word take root within me and produce lasting fruit. Where I need to surrender, help me release control. Where I need to act, give me courage. Where I need to wait, teach me patience. Where I need to repent, give me a humble and willing heart. Where I need to forgive, help me extend grace. Where I need to rest, remind me that my worth is not measured by constant activity. And where I need to trust You, strengthen my faith beyond what my eyes can presently see. Lord, I do not want to finish this journey merely saying that I have completed fifteen days of devotion. I want to emerge with a deeper commitment to live according to Your Word. I want my yes to You to become more than a declaration spoken during an emotional moment. Let it become a daily response of surrender, obedience, faithfulness, and love. Father, when tomorrow arrives, remind me that the lessons of today still matter. When another responsibility demands my attention, help me respond with wisdom. When another uncertainty challenges my peace, remind me to trust Your will. When another opportunity to demonstrate love presents itself, help me recognize it. And when the ordinary moments of life become familiar, keep my heart attentive to Your goodness. Thank You for the gift of today. Thank You for the breath of life. Thank You for the mercy that met me yesterday, the grace that sustains me today, and the confidence that Your faithfulness remains unchanged as I face tomorrow. May the lessons of these fifteen days continue producing spiritual growth within me, and may my life become a continuing expression of my willingness to follow Jesus Christ. Father, as I reflect upon Psalm 150:6, “Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD,” remind me that the breath within my body is not something I should take for granted. Every breath is another opportunity to acknowledge You, honor You, and respond to Your Word. I do not know how many tomorrows remain before me, but I know that You have entrusted me with today. Help me not waste it worrying about what I cannot control, regretting what I cannot change, or postponing what I already know I should do. I surrender my tomorrow, I steward my today, and I recognize Your Presence in every breath. Father, let this be more than a declaration I repeat. Let it become the way I live. Let my surrender be genuine, my stewardship be faithful, my gratitude be sincere, and my relationship with Jesus Christ remain the foundation of every decision I make. Lord, as this devotional journey comes to an end, may my obedience continue. May my hunger for Your Word deepen. May my prayer life become more intentional. May my heart remain tender toward Your correction, and may my life continually reflect the transforming power of Your grace. Above all, Father, let me never become so occupied with the life I am trying to build that I neglect the One who gave me life. As long as I have breath, let my life give You praise. As long as I have today, let my response to You be yes. In the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen!

My Final Question: What Will You Do With The Breath God Has Given You?

We began this journey asking God to teach us how to live within the confines of our day. We learned to surrender tomorrow, steward today, and recognize His Presence in the space between our breaths. Now, as we reach the final moment of these fifteen days, I want you to consider something greater than the plans you have made, the responsibilities you carry, or the opportunities you hope to experience. You have spent time reading about the gift of today, but the greatest invitation before you is to receive the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can respond to the gospel today. You may not have every answer concerning your future, but you can place your faith in the One who gave His life for you. You may have spent years waiting for the right moment to become serious about your relationship with God, but Scripture reminds us that now is the accepted time and now is the day of salvation. So, as we close this devotional journey, I leave you with one final question, and I pray that you will allow it to reach beyond your thoughts and speak directly to your heart: If God has given you another breath and another opportunity to respond to His love, what are you waiting for before you give your life completely to Jesus Christ?

A Final Invitation: Today Is the Day of Salvation

I do not want to leave you with only an encouraging word about making better use of your time. I want to leave you with an invitation that reaches beyond your schedule, your responsibilities, and your plans for the future. The greatest gift God offers is not simply another day of earthly life, but eternal life through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Throughout these fifteen days, we have been reminded that tomorrow is not guaranteed, that today carries responsibilities, and that every breath comes from God. But there is one decision that deserves your most serious consideration: your response to the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, according to Romans 3:23. Yet God, in His love and mercy, sent His Son, Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again. Through His death and resurrection, forgiveness and reconciliation with God are made available to all who repent and place their faith in Him.

Romans 10:9–10 (KJV) declares: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:13 (KJV) further declares: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

These scriptures remind us that salvation is not reserved for people who have lived perfect lives or accomplished enough good works to deserve God’s acceptance. Salvation is the gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. It involves acknowledging our need for forgiveness, turning toward God in repentance, and trusting Jesus as Savior and Lord.  Perhaps you have read every devotional in this series, prayed every prayer, and reflected upon every scripture, but you have never personally surrendered your life to Jesus Christ. You may know about Him without having placed your faith in Him. You may attend church, participate in ministry, or speak about God, yet still recognize that your heart has not fully responded to the gospel.

Or perhaps you once walked closely with the Lord but have allowed disappointment, distraction, or disobedience to influence your relationship with Him. You may recognize that you have been going through the motions of faith while your heart has become distant. The invitation before you is to respond sincerely to God’s Word, turn from what has drawn you away, and seek renewed fellowship with Him. You do not have to wait until you have resolved every problem, corrected every habit, or fully understood every part of Scripture before coming to Jesus. You come acknowledging your need for His grace and trusting in the saving work He has accomplished through His death and resurrection.

If you are ready to surrender your life to Jesus Christ, you may express your faith and repentance through a prayer such as this. Remember that the prayer itself is not a formula that earns salvation; it is an expression of a heart turning to God and placing its trust in Christ.

Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ, I come before You with a humble and repentant heart. I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of Your forgiveness and saving grace. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, that He died on the cross for my sins, and that You raised Him from the dead. Today, I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and surrender my heart and life completely to You. Forgive me of my sins, cleanse me from all unrighteousness, and make me new. Teach me Your ways, transform my heart, renew my mind, and help me walk in obedience to Your Word. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and guide me as I begin this journey of living for You. Thank You for loving me, forgiving me, and receiving me into Your family. From this day forward, may my life reflect my yes to You. In Jesus Christ Name, I pray. Amen and Amen!

Nugget ~ Your breath is a gift from God, but the way you respond to His Word is a responsibility you must not continually postpone. Surrender your tomorrow, steward your today, and let every breath become an opportunity to honor Jesus Christ.

Blessings…

Love, Dr. Jean…
