Good Morning Sunshine! Now It Is Time For The Spin Cycle; God Is Removing The Weight You Were Never Meant To Carry!

Hebrews 12:1 (NIV) ~ “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

After a garment has been washed and rinsed, the washing machine enters the spin cycle. This is often the fastest and most intense part of the process. The machine spins rapidly, forcing excess water from the garment. The purpose is not to damage the garment but to prepare it for what comes next. A garment carrying too much water becomes heavy, difficult to move, and unprepared for use.

Spiritually, God often allows seasons that feel like the spin cycle. These seasons may involve transitions, unexpected changes, closed doors, shifts in relationships, altered plans, or circumstances that seem to move faster than you anticipated. While these moments may feel disorienting, God is not trying to break you. He is removing weight. He is removing burdens, attachments, mindsets, fears, and dependencies that cannot accompany you into your next season. Before God elevates you, He often lightens you.

One of the most overlooked truths about the washing machine is that the spin cycle happens after the garment has already been cleaned. The dirt has been removed. The stains have been addressed. The rinsing has taken place. Yet there is still one more process necessary before the garment is ready. This teaches a powerful spiritual lesson. Sometimes God is not dealing with sin in your life. Sometimes He is dealing with weight. Not everything God removes is evil. Not everything God asks you to release is sinful. Some things are simply too heavy for where He is taking you. The spin cycle is not always about correction. Sometimes it is about preparation.

You may find yourself asking God why certain things are changing so quickly. Relationships shift. Opportunities change. Familiar routines disappear. Doors close unexpectedly. Plans you carefully organized begin to unfold differently than expected. During these moments, it can feel as though life is spinning around you. Yet what feels like chaos from your perspective is often precision from God’s perspective. The Father understands exactly what must remain and exactly what must be removed. Nothing leaves your life without first passing through His sovereign hands. The spin may feel uncomfortable, but it is never without purpose.

One of the heaviest burdens many people carry is the burden of control. You naturally want to know what is happening, why it is happening, and when it will end. Yet the spin cycle often removes the illusion that you were ever in control to begin with. God lovingly reminds you that He is the author and finisher of your faith. He sees the beginning and the end simultaneously. He knows what tomorrow holds before tomorrow arrives. The spin cycle teaches surrender. It teaches dependence. It teaches trust. You begin discovering that peace is not found in controlling outcomes but in trusting the One who controls them.

The spin cycle also removes emotional weight. There are disappointments that linger long after the event itself has passed. There are hurts that remain hidden beneath the surface. There are fears that quietly influence decisions. There are expectations that continue creating frustration because they were never surrendered to God. The Lord understands that these invisible burdens can become heavier than visible ones. During the spin cycle, He begins stripping away emotional baggage that has followed you from one season into the next. What you thought was part of your identity may actually be something He intends to remove.

As a believers you can unknowingly carry the weight of other people’s opinions. They spend years trying to meet expectations that God never established. They exhaust themselves attempting to gain approval from people who continually move the target. The spin cycle teaches you that your identity cannot be rooted in public opinion. It must be rooted in God’s truth. If your worth depends on people’s applause, it will also be damaged by their criticism. God wants your confidence anchored in His voice rather than the fluctuating opinions of others. The spin cycle removes the need for constant validation and replaces it with secure identity.

Abraham experienced a spin cycle when God called him to leave everything familiar behind. He was asked to leave his country, his relatives, and the comfort of what he had always known. God was not punishing Abraham. God was positioning him. The familiar had become too small for the promise. Likewise, there are moments when God removes familiar things because they cannot accommodate your future. What feels like loss may actually be divine repositioning. God sees the promise while you are still grieving the transition. The spin cycle often occurs between what was and what will be.

Joseph experienced the spin cycle repeatedly. The pit removed one version of him. Slavery removed another. Prison removed another. Yet every season was stripping away anything that would interfere with his ability to govern with wisdom when promotion finally arrived. Had Joseph reached the palace carrying bitterness, pride, resentment, or revenge, the weight would have crushed him. Instead, God used the spin cycle to prepare his character for the assignment. The process was not punishment. It was preparation.

Jesus Himself demonstrated the principle of releasing weight in the Garden of Gethsemane; He surrendered His own will to the Father’s plan. His prayer revealed complete trust even in the face of immense pressure. Sometimes the greatest weight God asks you to release is your own agenda. There are moments when your plans seem good, but His plans are greater. There are times when your timing seems right, but His timing is perfect. The spin cycle teaches you that surrender is not weakness. It is strength under submission.

The faster the spin cycle moves, the more water is removed. Likewise, there are seasons when God accelerates certain lessons because He is preparing you for an upcoming assignment. What once took years to learn may now be learned in months. What once seemed hidden may suddenly become clear. God knows exactly how much preparation is necessary for your next level of purpose. The intensity of the process is often connected to the significance of the assignment. Trust that He knows what He is doing even when the pace feels overwhelming.

One of the greatest gifts of the spin cycle is that it creates freedom of movement. A garment saturated with excess water becomes difficult to wear. A believer carrying unnecessary burdens becomes difficult to move. God desires freedom for you. He desires clarity for you. He desires strength for you. Every burden He removes creates room for greater purpose. Every weight He lifts creates greater capacity. Every attachment He breaks creates greater freedom. The spin cycle is not taking something from you. It is preparing you to move with greater ease into what He has prepared.

The spin cycle teaches that God is not only interested in cleansing you. He is interested in strengthening you. He is preparing you to run your race without unnecessary hindrances. He is teaching you how to travel lighter. He is helping you release what cannot accompany you into your future. Every rotation of the cycle serves a purpose. Every moment of surrender creates greater freedom. Every act of trust creates greater strength. What feels like spinning today may become one of the greatest testimonies of God’s faithfulness tomorrow.

Another lesson hidden within the spin cycle is that the garment remains secure even while everything around it is moving rapidly. The garment may feel the movement, but it never leaves the hands of the process. Spiritually, you may experience seasons where life seems to be changing at an overwhelming pace. Yet even in those moments, God has not lost His grip on you. His hand remains steady while circumstances shift around you. His promises remain firm while situations change. His faithfulness remains constant while everything else feels uncertain. You are not spinning out of control; you are spinning within His control.

The spin cycle also teaches endurance. The garment cannot stop the process halfway through and still receive the full benefit of preparation. Likewise, many believers want God to remove discomfort immediately without understanding what the discomfort is producing. Scripture teaches that perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete. The Lord understands what is being developed within you. What feels exhausting today may become the very thing that sustains you tomorrow. Do not quit in the middle of the process. God is producing something valuable through every rotation.

One of the most beautiful revelations of the spin cycle is that lighter does not mean weaker. In fact, lighter often means stronger. Eagles soar because they are not weighed down. Runners finish races because they remove unnecessary obstacles. Soldiers travel effectively because they carry only what is essential. God is teaching you the same principle. Some things that once seemed necessary are no longer required. Some burdens that once felt familiar are no longer beneficial. The Lord is teaching you how to distinguish between what is essential and what is excess.

Perhaps the greatest truth of the spin cycle is that God never removes weight without purpose. Every release creates room for something greater. Every ending prepares the way for a new beginning. Every surrender creates capacity for fresh grace. Every burden lifted creates space for deeper peace. Trust the process even when it feels intense. The God who is removing the weight is the same God who is preparing the blessing. What feels like loss today may become one of the greatest gifts of tomorrow.

Let’s Pray:

Father, today I thank You for every burden You are removing from my life. Thank You for loving me enough not to allow me to carry what was never meant to accompany me into my future. Help me trust Your process when life feels like it is spinning around me. Remind me that You are not trying to harm me but prepare me. Let me see Your hand at work even when I do not fully understand what You are doing. Lord, I surrender every weight that has become attached to my heart. I release fear, anxiety, worry, insecurity, bitterness, and disappointment into Your hands. Teach me how to trust You with the things I cannot control. Help me stop carrying responsibilities that belong to You. Let Your peace replace every burden that has been weighing me down. Father, forgive me for the times I have tried to control outcomes instead of trusting Your timing. Forgive me for carrying concerns You repeatedly asked me to surrender. Teach me how to rest in Your sovereignty. Strengthen my confidence in Your wisdom. Help me believe that Your plans are always better than my own.  Lord, remove every unhealthy attachment that is limiting my growth. If there are relationships, mindsets, habits, expectations, or fears that cannot accompany me into my next season, give me the courage to release them. Help me trust that what You remove is making room for something greater. Let me hold tightly to You and loosely to everything else. Father, heal every emotional burden that continues to weigh upon my heart. Heal disappointments that still ache. Heal wounds that still influence my decisions. Heal fears that still affect my faith. Heal areas where grief, rejection, or failure have attempted to establish permanent residence. Wash over those places with Your healing presence and make me whole. Lord, thank You for being my refuge during seasons of transition. When life feels uncertain, remind me that You remain constant. When circumstances shift, remind me that Your promises do not change. When I feel overwhelmed, remind me that Your grace is sufficient. Let Your presence become my anchor through every season of change. Father, teach me how to walk in freedom. Show me what I no longer need to carry. Reveal anything that is hindering my spiritual growth. Help me travel lighter so I can run the race You have set before me. Remove every unnecessary burden and replace it with greater trust, greater faith, and greater peace. Lord, I pray for renewed strength today. Where I have grown weary, strengthen me. Where I have become discouraged, encourage me. Where I have become fearful, reassure me. Let Your Spirit breathe fresh life into every area of my heart. Help me soar above circumstances rather than being overwhelmed by them. Father, thank You that You never waste a season. Thank You that every lesson, every challenge, every transition, and every surrender is serving a greater purpose. Thank You that You are preparing me for what is ahead. Help me remain faithful in the process and confident in Your promises. Lord, I declare that I trust You completely. I trust You with my future. I trust You with my family. I trust You with my calling. I trust You with my dreams. I trust You with every area of my life. Thank You for removing the weight, strengthening my faith, and preparing me for the purpose You have ordained. Father, help me remember that the spinning does not mean You have abandoned me. It means You are actively working on my behalf. Let me see every challenge through the lens of purpose rather than panic. Strengthen my heart to endure and help me remain focused on You when everything else feels uncertain. Lord, thank You for every closed door that protected me, every delay that prepared me, and every transition that positioned me. Even when I did not understand Your decisions, You were working for my good. Help me trust Your wisdom above my understanding and Your timing above my expectations. Father, let this season create greater dependence upon You. Strip away self-reliance and replace it with God-confidence. Teach me to lean on Your strength rather than my own. Let every burden removed create more room for Your Presence, Your power, and Your purpose to flow through my life. In Jesus Christ Mighty Name, Amen.

Nugget ~ The spin cycle was not punishment, it was preparation. God is removing the weight that would slow you down, distract you, or hinder your next assignment. What feels like intense movement today is creating freedom for tomorrow. Trust the process, because every burden released makes room for greater strength, greater purpose, and greater peace!

Blessings…

Love, Dr. Jean…
